KES

I ordered the KES mask after someone recommended it, as well as seeing articles that materials like chiffon and silk can improve filtration. While I did not receive the color I ordered, the mask is a nice, silky material. The website describes them as sustainable, washable masks. They have an over-the-head loop with a tie for behind the neck, both of which are designed to be easily adjusted. The mask comes with a filter pocket. It is a flat mask, without any nose wire. Trying to wear this for even a minute resulted in the mask floating up into my eyes or when I talked, below my nose. What I do like about this mask is that i can use it as a washable liner in another mask for extra filtration.

For every mask ordered, they donate one mask to a healthcare professional. KES says lab testing has shown their masks to be more effective at filtration than surgical masks, but I have not seen that research or further details and none is linked on their press page. They do not identify where the masks are manufactured, but the company is based in New York City.
